3 Questions Intelligent People Ask

Before we continue I feel it’s important to clearly state that, if you haven’t yet gone through your list of “warm market” contacts, you should absolutely start there in the beginning.

In our business, we’ve always ALWAYS gone to warm market FIRST because the truth is, for your new members and business builders there is no easier way to build their new business faster than connecting with and sharing the products with folks they already know like and trust.

That being said, there are a number of great ways to generate consistent leads online for your business however, we highly suggest you start with your warm market first. In this post I’m actually going to cover the best three ways to generate leads for your business online and I’ll clearly explain why these are the ONLY ways we recommend building your business online.

Trust me, with over 10 years of experience we’ve applied almost EVERY lead generation technique ever created so we totally know what’s best in terms of time invested, potential conversions and overall success.


Why should I generate my own leads?

Great question. For the average home business owner there can seem like there is a lot of debate around the topic of whether generating your own leads is really a good idea or not.

Most people who have never gotten good at generating their own leads may consider it a waste of time or “easier” to continue to do home meetings and hotel meetings but the truth is, they have simply not stuck it out long enough to learn how to generate leads the RIGHT way.

Let me ‘xplaineth.

Let’s say that you can truly accomplish anything you set out to. What is more attractive to you – picking up the phone and calling everyone you’ve ever know since grade school, attempting to create rapport over the phone, inviting them to a presentation and hoping that they show up (or driving to pick them up), and attending every home meeting or weekly hotel presentation you can…

OR

…learning how to attract people to YOU that are already looking for what you have to offer online and simply getting more information into the hands of those already looking for the product or wanting to start a business from home? Which one would you choose?

Both ways work.

However, you’ll find that the first way requires a significant amount of time and skill investment and MOST new people will find it “too hard” to continue unless they’re able to generate some results pretty quickly in their business.

That’s why, in addition to working with your warm market my wife and I ALWAYS suggest learning a supplementary prospecting skill so that if you’re ever having a down month, or you totally exhaust your current list you can go out and confidently generate as many leads as you want online because you’ve already developed that particular skill. Online vs. offline lead generation

To the untrained eye, there can seem an equal playing field between online and offline lead generation techniques, however, frankly, there is literally NO competition. You may have heard that collecting business cards at local chamber meetings, putting post it notes on people cars, buying window decals for your OWN vehicle or trying to prospect everyone you come in contact with on a daily basis was a good idea and works well, but let me ask you…

How’s that been working for you?

Most people give up on marketing there business online too soon because they simply don’t know how to go about it the RIGHT way. You’ll catch folks all the time posting tweets, uploading youtube videos or even using pinterest to promote their business and they can’t figure out why nobody is wanting to join.

It’s like they think the internet is a magic customer-getting genie or something.

Truth is, it CAN be, but you’ve got to get real good at it and learn the promote the your business the right way online CONSISTENTLY before you will ever start seeing results. Now, in this post (if you pay attention and read it entirely), there should be no reason you can’t at least generate your very first leads within the next 24-48 hours online because thankfully for you I’m going to show you the RIGHT way to generate leads for the business.

Cool thing is, these leads you generate will be high quality leads that (if done right) you will be able to convert into customers or business builders, so make sure you apply what you’re about to learn and IMMEDIATELY put it to action! Sound good? Ok, let’s continue…


Is it a bad idea to purchase MLM leads?

Chances are, you may have been told or have at least considered purchasing home business leads from an “reputable” online lead vendor. Either you hear of a great new lead company from a friend or your sponsor suggests the company they use so you punch in a search on google and are bombarded with results like this:

Last time I checked there were over 190,000 search results for lead vendors, most of which are either fake “reviews” promoting their own lead company or affiliate link or outdated, undermaintained lead websites that are simply selling you resold leads. And, upon closer inspection you’ll find that most of these “reputable” lead companies are actually owned by the same 3-4 business entities. The bottom line you need to consider is…

…will these purchased leads actually become a customer?

Many years ago, when I was first getting started in business for myself, I went to a training seminar in Dallas to learn how to better build my home business. I had been in my business for a couple years already, and had tried just about everything to generate more leads, referrals and customers with little to no success thus far.

At that seminar it was suggested that in addition to my warm market, I should begin buying and calling MLM leads that I could purchase from various vendors online. Although I later found out that the speaker owned BOTH lead companies they were suggesting we buy from, I (for the next 5 months) spent around $500 a month on purchased MLM leads and about 6-8 hours a day on the phone trying to get ahold of people.

It may not sound that bad at first, but when you factor in time for follow-up, new member training and add to the fact you’re paying outrageous prices for leads like this:

…it can add up real quickly and you can soon find yourself (like I did), up to my eyeballs in credit card debt, exhausted from getting answering machines, burnt out from overcoming objections and hating ever joining my business in the first place because I wasn’t making sales,

…I wasn’t helping people with our products and it wasn’t fun anymore.

It was at this point of complete and total frustration that I turned to the internet and vowed to myself that I was going to figure out a way to generate my own leads not only because I wanted to, but because I was dead broke and had literally NO way left to fund my maniacal spending habits I’d been using to fund my home business.

I toiled and toiled, struggling every step of the way. I tried this and I tried that, using every last penny I had to invest into training programs or video training courses that promised me the world, knowing that I had no other choice but to slowly and painfully figure this lead generation thing out and one day (to my utter amazement) it happened…

…I got my first lead!

The crazy thing was, although it was only one lead and although that person never became a part of the business for me, I now had one very small thing that I had not had moments before checking my email that day and seeing that someone had requested more information about working from home.

I now had hope.

Hope and expectation are such a HUGE part of your success, it is I believe one of the TOP 3 things that are integral to the success of your business and without it, you may continue to struggle the rest of your life unless you can learn to harness your true potential and clearly SEE your future how you want it to be and make a decision right now today to NEVER ever give up until you too figure this out.

I continued to hone my skills and I was soon generating an extra five to ten leads EVERY SINGLE day for the business all from the comfort of my own home, working just 2-3 hours a day on my business and never having to worry about going out to meet people at local coffee shops or having people to talk to because I always knew that the very next day I’d have another five to ten people I could share our products with because they were actually interested in what we had to offer!

So how’d I do it?

So what was my secret? How specifically had I learned to generate leads for myself that were actually interested in hearing from me? Lead that didn’t cost me a fortune and that actually answered their phone or responded to my email – how in the world was I doing this?

That’s why, anyone that partners with us is immediately trained and it’s our main priority to help them “Score” within their first 24 hours. So keeping with that mindset of helping you score within the next 24 hours and generate your very first lead(s), I’m about to share with you the three best ways to do that. You’ll be able to follow along and if you implement what you’re about to learn you WILL generate leads.


How to generate leads that call YOU

For many new people, it can sometimes feel awkward to pick up the phone and call your friends and family or ask your schoolmate from 4th grade to come to a business presentation.

When I first discovered this simple way of getting people to call me requesting more information about working from home, it was super amazing because not only did I have leads calling me, I now was the authority and was able to convert more of them into customers and builders than I ever had before.

I actually was able to generate 32 leads that called ME and wanted to learn more about the business the very first time I applied this strategy and here’s exactly how I did it, check it out:

After a late night phone conversation with a mentor of mine who was living in Nova Scotia at the time and also building the business, we were brainstorming ideas and this is what we came up with. Surprisingly, not only does this strategy work extremely well for brand new people who have absolutely no clue where to begin when it comes to generating their own leads…

How to generate leads right from your smartphone

Wouldn’t it be sweet if you could generate leads right from your phone? And no, I’m not talking about going through and texting all of your contacts or sending links to your friends and family. If I could show you how to get new leads every single day right from your smartphone, you’d want to know how wouldn’t you?

Of course you would.

This next way to generate leads is one of the fastest ways to generate leads from your mobile phone like most people I train, it’s probably been hiding right under your nose for years! It takes a little more prep work and consistency than the first method and your new team members that apply this strategy will soon be able to generate leads every single day from their phone and sign up new customers and builders just like the rest of us!

Ready to start getting leads? Ok, let’s dive in.


Laying the groundwork

Ok, our first step is to install the instagram app. You can find it in the app store on your phone by doing a simple search and clicking install:

Once you’ve got instagram installed on your phone, you’ll need to create your account and select a username. After that you’ll want to add a nice looking photo of yourself and edit your about me section which you can access by clicking the user icon in the lower right side of your phone screen:

Click on the user icon in the lower right side of your screen and then click on “edit profile” to start editing your bio.

I’ve color coded the sections so that it’s easier to see where what you edit will actually show up on your profile when someone views it. The goal here is to create curiosity and intrigue without giving about the name of your business or trying to sell anyone from first glance.

Add an interesting bio based on what your target audience (ideal customer) is looking for and put a link to your landing page in the website area. For the best results, do NOT put a link to your company website here, this should only be a link to your landing page which I cover in full detail in this post on how to properly follow up with your leads.

Next we’ll add nine to twelve photos or videos from our phone that represent who we are and give people a great picture of who we are looking to attract as potential customers or business builders. The “plus sign” in the bottom middle of you phone will take you there.

After you’ve selected your pics or videos, click “next” to start adding captions.

It’s super important that the pictures or videos are relevant to the message you want to be sending to anyone who views your profile. For example, if you are promoting healthy living or financial freedom, you should only post photos or videos relating to those things. Posting a picture of you changing oil in your car would not be congruent and could quite easily confuse potential prospects that are coming to your profile.

You can add a caption or description to your video if you want, and then (this is SUPER important) the next thing you want to do BEFORE sharing the image or video is to add 10-20 hashtags to your post so that you can start getting free traffic from people viewing similar things.

Make sure the hashtags are relevant and try to stick to phrases that have less than 500,000 posts. If you can find hashtags with around 100,000 posts, that seems to be the “sweet spot” for getting lots and lots of extra views.


Your daily action plan

So once you’ve got your profile set up, how do you start generating leads? The answer is so simple that many people can really miss it if they skim through this too quickly, so pay attention here. Every day we’re going to post a picture or video to our profile and every day we’re going to follow 50-100 new people on instagram.

Out of those 50-100 people you follow, five to thirty of them will follow you back. Every day you post a new picture or video, that image or video is shown across their instagram newsfeed and, as you get better at it and they see that you are a real person who cares, they will begin reaching out to you asking for more information about the products or what it is you do.

So how do you find the RIGHT people to connect with?

Using the search bar (bottom left) inside of the instagram app, you’re going to want to search for topics, brands or posts that your target audience (ideal customers) are already interested in and following.

Let’s say you’re promoting makeup/beauty products… who is your ideal customer?

Is your ideal customer a 15 year old girl who follows justin beiber and usher on instagram or a married mom of 2 small kiddos who is looking for some unique date ideas to spice up their marriage?

Maybe your products are geared toward weight loss/healthy living. Is your ideal customer someone sitting on their couch eating bon bons and watching reruns of star trek who (out of boredom) happens to open up their phone and search for “funny memes” on instagram? Or is it someone who is thinking about buying a gym membership, or doing research on the latest diet trends and looking for before and after pictures on instagram?

Which potential “prospect” do you think is more likely to use the product?

You guessed it. Candidate number two.

Knowing who your ideal customer is can EXPLODE your business so fast it’ll make your head spin, because, in all reality, you are only spending time with people who actually WANT to hear about the products or business. Make sense?

For examples sake, let’s say that your ideal customer is someone who likes going to the gym or is into specific workout regimens – things like crossfit or planet fitness. We’ll simply use instagram’s search bar to find people (crossfit in this example) to connect with.

Head on over to their profile and click on “followers”. and you can see that Crosfitt alone has over 2.4 MILLION people that you could potentially connect with all from your smartphone!

The next part is easy. Simply go through and follow about 30 people an hour until you’ve hit your daily goal, post a picture or video for the day and voila! That’s it!

Continue to consistently follow 50-100 people per day every day on instagram until you’ve got enough people contacting you every single day because they saw your post(s) and want to learn more about the products or join the business.


What should I post about?

Great question. I ONLY post personal results or the results of my team (success stories, income proof), pictures or videos that add value (think inspirational or motivational posts) or images of the lifestyle that comes from running your own business.

This can be pictures of you at the beach, spending time with family or friends, traveling or whatever else you find totally AWESOME that comes as a byproduct of being in business for yourself.

The BEST long term strategy for generating leads

So far, if you’ve been paying attention and implemented everything I’ve taught you so far you should already know how to generate leads for your business that call YOU, plus you’re going to be well on your way to generating daily leads right from your smartphone and NOW this next part is going to be the long term solution to generating an endless supply of leads for your business online.

Before I share this next method with you, (this is important) it is super imperative that you understand fully that if you want a MASSIVE infusion of leads and customers into your business this month, this is going to require all out MASSIVE action on your part.

People that have seen the absolute greatest results using these three methods I’m teaching you in today’s post are the ones who have gone out, implemented ALL three methods right from the start and continue to consistently work their lead generation methods every single day.

If you do nothing, nothing will change.

Intelligent people take what they’re about to learn next and RUN like crazy with it because it’s not only simple and easy to duplicate, BUT it works really really well for acquiring new leads.

Ready? Ok, here we go…


Before you get started

We’re going to be using facebook, so the very first thing you need to do i clean up your profile so that you don’t scare away potential prospects when they view your profile. You’ll notice on my facebook profile that there are no negative posts or rants, I leave politics alone and that (just like with instagram) I’m always providing inspiration, motivation or value to those that stumble across my facebook wall.

Upload a nice profile picture of yourself that clearly shows your face and add a nice cover photo also. We want your first impression to be a good one, and you want people to be able to see that you’re a real person who cares about helping others and take your career seriously.

The next thing you’re going to do is update your privacy settings so that new people can easily interact with your posts and get in contact with you when they are ready to take their next step. Here is the link to update your facebook settings (must be logged in to facebook).

Here’s how your settings should look:

Under the timeline and tagging tab and set the privacy to friends so that nothing is shared publicly without you first knowing about it.

Next, head on over to public post filters and set it up how I have mine set up below so that people can freely share your statuses and that you are notified when someone comments on your posts, allowing you to respond more promptly to new requests.

Finally, go to your timeline and delete any nasty posts, weird stuff, political arguments and any other nonsense or shenanigans that could put an unsavory spin on your image and the company’s image. There is a time and a place for the hard talks and difficult discussions, however for now, your facebook wall is no longer the place for any of this unless it is uplifting, inspirational or promoting your services. Make sense?

Once you’ve got your image and wall cleaned up, there is just one more thing you want to take care of before beginning to generate leads for the business.

Change your employment status to “self-employed” or something along those lines so that someone visiting your profile cannot make a half-informed decision about what you do. This sparks curiosity and almost always results in them asking you what you do before you ever even have to bring it up which is an excellent place to share your story with them or product testimonial.


How do I connect with people and “break the ice”?

The best way to connect with new people on facebook is to either send them a quick friend request or send them a message.

If you’re going to send them a PM, keep it light and to the point. This isn’t the part in the conversation to pitch them on the opportunity or sell your products – that will come later via your daily status posts. Something like a simple “Hey, how’s it going?” or “Hi, noticed we both are into think and grow rich, think should I buy the book or borrow it?” works fine.

WATCH NOW: The EXACT words to say to get leads and customers on Facebook

Feel free to say whatever you are comfortable with. For me, I personally like to keep my initial conversations quirky and a little weird, sometimes ending it with a question too helps.

It’s always been my goal to add 5-10 people as a friends per day on facebook so that my network continues to grow whether I am actively prospecting or not. Stray away from sending more than 10-15 friend requests to people you aren’t already connected with per day so that you don’t get banned from sending requests.

Out of those 10-15 friends requests that you send out on a daily basis, you’ll average about 5-7 people that accept your friend request.

Make sure you keep on top of your outgoing friend requests. If you have too many outgoing requests that people have not accepted, you’ll need to periodically go in and cancel some of your sent friend requests.

I typically let people sit for about a week and, if at that point they haven’t yet responded to my friend request I’ll go to my pending outgoing requests (must be logged in) and cancel my request.


Daily action plan

To really see great results with this strategy you will need to stay consistent and do this every single day. It won’t take you long once you get the hang of it and long term, facebook is an absolute goldmine for leads.

Once a day, every day post something that either shares the success of you or your team members, offer some advice or motivation that creates value for people (like in the pic above) or posts pictures or videos of yourself and the lifestyle you get to enjoy because of the business and working for yourself.

A HUGE golden nugget here is to ask others to like/comment on your post like I did in the picture above so that your posts get more exposure and facebook can start sharing your statuses higher up in people’s newsfeeds.

Make it a goal to connect with a minimum of 10-25 new people PER day on facebook wither via friend requests or a private message and continue to post one status a day that either shares results, provides value or shows the lifestyle you enjoy due to the business.


What do I say to my leads?

Now that you have three very simple and highly effective ways to generate daily leads for your business, let’s talk about how to follow up with them in such a way so that they decide to learn more about the products and perhaps even decide to step up and start their very own home business asking you to be their sponsor and guide them:
