In almost every profession across the globe, there is always some form of on the job training before someone can start a new career.

Think about it.

From doctors who study and practice for years before ever performing an operation on their own, to fast food employees just out of high school, if they are to succeed, they must first learn from someone else.

Why is this important?

Because people learn by doing.

This is why having someone watch a training video doesn’t work.

It’s why talking someone to death won’t make them better at prospecting.

It’s not our fault.

Many of us weren’t taught ourselves the skills we need to succeed, so how can we be expected to know how to teach someone else.

There comes a point where we must either be taught the skills we need, or become competent ourselves. This means learning how to prospect, how to invite properly, how to give a presentation and of course, how to create duplication in our team.

Where can we learn these things?

Right here.

In time, and with practice we can get better.

Today we are talking about duplication.

Specifically on the job training.

Because people learn by doing, we will need a way to help new people learn the skills they need without talking them to death. Here are some things we can start implementing in our getting started training:

1. Invite together.

The team that invites together stays together. We need to have an easy way to help our new team members invite the first day they get started. Doing this together builds confidence and quiets their fears, while re-enforcing the fact that we don’t just let someone “sink or swim” in our profession.

This is a better way to get someone started.

2. Do presentations together.

A new person doesn’t know what to say. They don’t know how to handle objections. It is our responsibility to do their presentations for them until they are competent themselves. This takes the pressure off of a new person until they are ready.

3. Attend events together

What’s the easiest way to get more people to the next regional event? Offer the ride together or share a room. We all become more like those we associate with, so if we are the model example of a network marketing professional, why wouldn’t we want our team members to create community and friendships with us?

It’s this type of thinking, that will help us become better leaders.

This type of thinking builds stronger teams.

And it is easy to do.
