The problem
Let’s face it.
Everyone likes a little privacy.
Most people don’t want to give out their personal number to strangers.
It’s great to know how to get people to call YOU asking for more information or wanting to get started. The problem is, how can we keep these phone calls from consuming our lives?
We still have a family.
We still want to have a life outside of work.
And we all need to sleep.
For those of us building our business locally, and if we value these things, we don’t necessarily want people to knowing how to get ahold of us at all hours of the night.
The solution
So how can we have a number readily available that people can call at any hour of the day AND still have a life while building our business?
The answer?
We must set up a phone number that will ring us during the working hours we set for ourselves and take care of our potential customers and builders when we are not available.
This way, we can still run a profitable business without getting burned out.
Now, we will not sabotage ourselves, and we have taken the limits off of how many leads and prospects we can effectively communicate with.
This will allow us to build our business faster.
Now we can build smart.
What we’ll use
Let’s use a service called CloudPhone (more info) to handle our calls.
This will be a business expense for us, so we can write it off every month as a tax deduction.
That’s extra cash in our pocket.
CloudPhone is an awesome tool we can use to grow our businesses locally. We’ll get a local number that we can use to answer calls professionally, route sms messages to our phones and even transcribe voicemails so that we can get through them faster.
And, it works with the phone you already have.
How we’ll use it
After we’ve selected our number and set up our account, we’ll go ahead and set up the times we want our phone to ring.
We’ll find this in the settings area.
Let’s set up a custom greeting too.
On desktop, we can set this up immediately after we activate our number here:

How we’ll set it up
Let’s head over to CloudPhone and get our number set up.
The Professional Plan will give us enough numbers to use for local marketing AND allow us to set our business hours so that our phone is not ringing us all hours of the day.
We could even split the numbers between a couple team members so that we could share the leads and lower our monthly overhead.
Let’s select the plan that works best for us and proceed to select a number and setup our account.
Now that we’ve got our voicemail and business line set up, let’s keep moving forward and learn how we can start generating leads locally so we can build our business faster.
