I’m constantly bombarded with questions about how I’ve become such a good closer in our profession. Everyone thinks I’m some magical super human. But the truth is, I just keep it simple. If you can keep the closing question(s) simple , you can grow a massive organization too. Ready to hear my super sophisticated close? Ok, pay attention because you’re going to want to take notes on this. After the presentation, here’s what I say (while nodding twice):
“So, are you ready to get started?”
I smile.
I say nothing else.
I just keep smiling.
And… eventually, they’ll tell you.
Y’see it takes the average person about 8 seconds to process a decision in their mind. Now what an amateur does is they’ll give it about 3 seconds, and then they’ll start talking the prospect to death and re-selling.
But you see, he who speaks first loses. So I ask them “are you ready to get started?” and then I shut up.
SHUT up.
Let them process, and give you an answer.
