“I don’t have the time”
It happens.
A prospects says “Gee I don’t know, I’m just so busy. I don’t really have the time to do this.”
The amateur fires back something witty like:
“Well, how much time do you think it takes?”
Or, “It’s not a lot of time. It’s just a baby bit of time.”
Or worse “Sure you do, don’t you watch TV or spend time golfing?”
Yikes.
It’s not for lack of trying.
The amateur just looks for ways to disprove what the prospect is telling them.
This however, this does little good.
Why?
Because people covet their free time.
They like to golf.
They like their time with the girls.
And for heaven’s sake, let’s not make them give up their TV or social media addictions just to build a successful business with us.
Instead of arguing with them, let’s agree with them.
Heck, let’s even build their business for them.
Why?
Because sometimes it’s better to win busy people over with paychecks.
Once they see a check rolling in every month, chances are they’re going to pay a little more attention and start asking more and more questions about what we do.
This is a great way to have a lifetime advocate for what we do.
First we need to find out if they’re really serious and just busy, or if they’re not that interested at all. Let’s say this:
“Mark, aside from the TIME, do you like the concept, do you see an OPPORTUNITY for yourself here?”
If they say “no”, we’ll let ’em go.
If they say yes, we’ll say:
“Look, I don’t need your time. You know a hundred people that I don’t KNOW and this is what I’m going to do, I’m going to win you OVER with paychecks. Here’s how it works, all I need you to do IS set up an introduction. Introduce the people that you know TO me. Put me in touch with your sharpest most ambitious people, and I’ll meet with them on your behalf, I’ll share this idea with them on your behalf, get them started and I’ll train them on your behalf, and YOU’LL start getting checks for literally not doing anything. And I’ll tell you what’s going to happen is once you see some income start rolling in from what I’m doing on your behalf, I’ll tell ya, you’re going to figure out a way to put in an extra couple hours a week to build yourself some financial freedom. Let’s get you started, ok?”
It’s a mouthful, but think about the posture.
Who wouldn’t say yes to that?
The answer?
Not many.
This is a great way to enroll high caliber people that are busy, and it works like magic. Yes, learning better words = better results.
