If you do launch parties or home parties this post is going to be a must read. Here are some tips on making sure your next meeting is a success, take a look:

Don’t put out food/drinks
Having food or drinks doesn’t make a difference in whether people will decide to get started or not. If you feel you must provide something just offer a simple glass of water. Have some upbeat music (quietly) playing in the background, and make sure to turn it off when the meeting starts.

Start on time
If people are late, too bad so sad. You are a professional. As long as you have someone there, start on time.

Be excited
Be excited for the people that showed up, don’t complain about the people who didn’t. Only about half of the people who say they’ll come actually will, so if you’re shooting for 5-10 people to show up make sure you’ve had 10-20 people tell you they were going to be there.

Host opens
Whoever is hosting the launch party opens, welcomes everyone and edifies the presenter. The presenter takes over from there.

Pay attention
During the party, don’t be texting, talking, or running around during the presentation. Sit in the back or with your guests and pay attention to who (out of the guests) is getting the most excited.

If you’re the presenter, get a clear yes or not yet from everyone there and move forward accordingly. Not asking someone to get started is the single biggest reasons they never do!

Getting started training
For those that do get started, don’t just send them home with a bunch of information and expect them to get to work. They never will. Instead, host a quick “business launch” after the meeting and help them get set up, book their first launch party and start making invitations that same night!

Follow up
For those that said “not yet” or requested more information to think about it, have a clear follow-up plan in place. You should have their contact information so that you can follow up within 24-48 hours to give them their next steps and see what their interest level is.
