Have you ever read Proverbs 31: 10-29? I’ve been reading it a lot lately. I greatly desire to be a Godly wife and mother. But I also know I am in need of some growth and change to become the Helpmate Jesus has called me to be. My mother was unmarried and my father was not around. Because of that I quickly realized I had no idea what the Lord expected of me as a wife. I decided to search the Bible and find a role model and I found the Proverbs 31 woman. Let me introduce you.
10 [a]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
At first I was quite intimidated by her. I remember thinking, “ THIS is the example the Lord gives us on how to be a Godly wife”? How on Earth was I to live up to these standards, and boy do I have a lot to change. It made me sick to my stomach for days…..Really. Then Pastor Chet preached a sermon titled, “Time To Change”, where he made reference to Abraham and how he became the Father of Faith. BECAME! I loved hearing that because it released me from intimidation, into gladness.
I’m glad that the Lord gave me the Word of God and the Proverbs 31 woman for guidance. I’m glad that He loves me too much to leave me the way I am. And I’m especially glad that His mercies are new each day.
11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
In what ways are you eager to change? What Godly aspirations and desires do you have for yourself. Leave me a comment and I’ll gladly pray for you during my daily prayer time. And I would love if you would pray for me as well. I covet your prayers.

A few weeks ago I was actually watching a Beth Moore bible study that our women’s ministry is doing every Wednesday, and she talked about the Proverbs 31 wife.
Proverbs as a whole is an intimidating book when you start to dive in, but I think you are so right when you say that God wants to help us change, and he does have the awesome power to do that.
When I think about change, I can come up with so many things I’d love to change about myself HA-which is a little scary, but I trust that God can help me through it. I’d love to have more self control, to be slow to anger, and to avoid judging others-which I am way too often quick to do.
Love your post! Scott and I truly believe God has a plan for our lives! We are waiting patiently and believing beyond a shadow of a doubt that another child is coming. So if you would like to add us to your prayer list to pray that the conception happens soon, that the baby is protected and no miscarriage occurs and that the baby is born healthy and happy! Together we can thank Jesus for what is coming! Thanks and bless you!. Visit me at http://www.myunfoldingtruth.wordpress.com and keep in touch! Thanks!
